Panoramio and YouTube on Google Earth

Recently, i found some spare time to take a tour on and check what's new on it. Last version of Google Earth i saw is Version 3, which is quite old and out dated. Any how, while i was zooming in towards my Home town (Negombo), i saw a few YouTube videos and Panoramio Photos Popping out of certain places.

When you tag the location of a YouTube Video or a Panoramio Photo you upload, now it appears on Google Earth as well. Its quite new to me, as i was not aware of this. To see this, you need to enable "Panoramio" Under Geographic Web Option and YouTube in the Layers Menu.

I have been using Panoramio (User Name : DJNJ) and YouTube for some time now, and most of the Photos and Videos i uploaded are now visible on Google Earth.

Most of my YouTube Videos and All the Panoramio Photos were captured using My Nokia N73.

Maris Friendship Motor Rally 2009

The Old Boys Association (OBA) of Maris Stella College Negombo organised a Motor Rally for the past Maristonians on the College Day as an event to gather up the motor rally enthusiasts and to mark the launch of their New Activity centre which will be built within a few months time.

TSD Motor Rally

A key feature of TSD rallies is tracking distance. In the rally instructions, the location of all questions is given by way of the distance (in miles and kilometres) from the start point. So you need to know how far you have travelled in order to know when to look for the answer to a question.
This can be done simply with the car's trip odometer. However, sometimes the odometer is not totally accurate, so you will have to manually calculate the gain/loss over distance. More importantly, if you make a mistake, or take a wrong turn (and you will!) you will have to allow for the extra distance travelled, and so recalculate the location of every question.

I had the opportunity to take part in this event along with my friend Amith and his family in their Toyota Hilux Double Cab. Amith's Elder Brother Collin Perera drove the vehicle, while Reshantha Conrad assisted him with the Navigations.

Mr. Ranjith Fernando was the President of the organising committee for the event.

The 80Km track for the Motor Rally was plotted by Mr. Thusith De Silva, with the help of Mr. Neil Daniels who was also the Chief Marshal during the event. As this was a TSD Class (Time - Speed - Distance) Motor Rally, a lot of skill and patience is required to plot a complex track with a questionnaire to make the event more enjoyable and Adventurous for the participants.

The answers for the 20+ questions in the questionnaire was hidden in locations such as Temples, Churches, Cemetery's, and on various sign boards along the track.

The route finished inside Maris Stella College premises, the ground being the final checkpoint where Mr. Neil Daniels himself marked the final time of arriving drivers.

The winners were announced in the eve after the launch of the OBA Activity center at the College Main Hall. The winner who had the best time along with the Correct answers was Mr. Praneeth Peiris assisted by Mr.Anton who arrived in the country a few hours before the event.

We, missing a route along with a checkpoint lost more than 100+ points at the end, and were placed as the 8th runners up.

Restoration of an Italian Made Yamaha TZR-R

A friend of mine took up the challenging task of restoring an Italian made YPVS Yamaha TZR-R. I used the term "restoration" as the bike happens to be really old, and it was in an unmovable condition for more than 2 years at my place. As medicine to the recently appeared Motorcycle Madness he took up this as a challenge and a job to kill the spare time.

The bike was moved to his garage, yes.. using a trailer as i said earlier, it was in an unmovable condition at my place. The chain, sprocket, Wheel, front fork and handle was stuck due to the rust and dirt.

Almost everything in the bike was Made in Italy.

I made a video from my Nokia N73 as soon as the Power Valve was restored back to a working condition after two days work. I will upload another video as soon as the work is complete.

Photos from The Railway trip to Kandy

So, After the few weeks silence due to the injuries after the reckless stunt i made on the Honda, im back. Thanks to all the folks who were in touch.

I had the privilege of joining a Train / Railway trip to Kandy from Negombo on a Hot Sunday morning with an interesting family in Negombo. It was an interesting trip, as railways and trains are not the usual mode of transportation we use in our daily traveling routines. We started our journey early morning on a Train (Second Class Carriage) from negombo and reached Peradeniya in 3 hours time. On our way, I tested out the Sports mode of my Nokia N73 Camera and also i did not forget to capture some Photos from the Peradeniya Botanical gardens as well, where we spent the Noon. Tunnels, Signal Posts, and the stuning sceneries spiced up the journey.

The return trip was not the best as we were exhausted and we had to come in a Third Class Carriage. However the entire journey was an unforgettable event, and it is sad to say that due to the lack of maintenance and the corrupted railway authorities, this might be the last trip we will ever remember as a train trip in the distant future.

How to obtain the secret fishfinder in the game Hooked On:Creatures of the Deep

What is a fishfinder ?

A fishfinder is a type of fathometer, both being specialized types of echo sounding systems, a type of Active SONAR. ('Sounding' is the measurement of water depth, a historical nautical term of very long usage.) The fishfinder uses active sonar to detect fish and 'the bottom' and displays them on a graphical display device, generally a LCD or CRT screen. In contrast, the modern fathometer (from fathom plus meter, as in 'to measure') is designed specifically to show depth, so may use only a digital display (useless for fish finding) instead of a graphical display, and frequently will have some means of making a permanent recording of soundings (which are merely shown and subsequently electronically discarded in common sporting fishfinder technology) and are always principally instruments of navigation and safety. The distinction is in their main purpose and hence in the features given the system. Both work the same way, and use similar frequencies, and, display type permitting, both can show fish and the bottom. Thus today, both have merged, especially with the advent of computer interfaced multipurpose fishfinders combining GPS technology, digital chart-plotting, perhaps radar and electronic compass displays in the same affordable sporting unit.

In the game Hooked On:Creatures of the Deep, the fish finder can be used to know where each type of fish occur in the map, which gives a head start for quests and fishing tournaments. Since it is a hidden item, this detailed guide explains how to obtain the fish finder for players who are still looking for it.

The "How to" Guide

First, you need to gain XP enough to unlock all four fishing locations, (Thailand will be unlocked at level 11 - 30,000 XP) as clues for the fish finders location is scattered in all four locations. A map which shows the coordinates for the fish finder is divided into four parts, and the four parts, hidden in floating bottles are put on the four fishing locations in the game ( Costarica, Alaska, Scotland and Thailand). So in order to find them, you need to do some fishing in all four locations. To get bottles which contain the parts of map, you need to scratch the surface using a floating minnow or popping plug. After you find all four parts of the map, from all four cities, it will look like below when joined together.

Notice the Numbers in each maps corner ? thats the coordinates you need. when lined together , the coordinates are 70,0.

Though you find the coordinates, you still need two more items. Someone has to tell you that these are the coordinates for the special prize, isnt it? yes. That message is hidden inside a bottle, which you will find in Thailand when you do some fishing and quests. There is no exact location for the bottle in the map, as players have reported getting it from most parts of Thailand. The bottle contains a secret message which is shown below.

So now you got the coordinates, and instruction. Still you need a GPS device to find the exact coordinates. Some players have said that they have obtained the fishfinder without coordinates, as they have found the exact spot. Yet, to make this more interesting and to play the game properly do the quests.

When you complete the objective in 10th quest , finding the golden necklace, you will obtain the GPS device as the price.

Now, everything you need to unlock the secret is found, whats left is to find the location 70,0.

Once you are on top of the exact coordinates, press the game button (The fire button, or the button you use to cast, hook and reel in.. by default the "5" key) and a message will appear as shown below.

Everything is done, now you have obtained the fishfinder. A new blank bulb will appear under the GPS coordinates which will flash in red or green. The item will appear under "Pocket" in options menu.

Once you hit the option "fishfinder", the bestiary or the fish and items list for the location will appear. you can select anything you want to find from the list. Once you select a specific item and start moving out in the boat, the bulb under the coordinates panel will keep blinking in red. When you reach the location for the item you selected, the bulb will start flashing in green. Move your boat to the spot where the bulb stays brightly lit, and that will be the place you need to fish for the item.

Lets give this a try.

I need to catch a tiger catfish, so i browse the fish finder and selected the tiger catfish as the active item.

A small magnifying glass will appear next to the name once you select it. Now lets move around the country looking for a place to catch the item. Not so far, i found the place and the bulb started to blink in green.

Selected the spot, and casted for the first time. Surprise !

So this item works, and no wonder it was a hidden secret as this item makes the quests and tournaments so easy. You can use this to finish the bestiary and win tournaments quickly to complete the game.

Hooked On : Creatures of the deep, or in short referred as COTD is one of the most successful N-Gage NextGen Games ever to be released. It’s a game that delivers a realistic fishing experience to your mobile, which bounds anyone who gives it a try.

After seeing this on my mobile, more than six people adopted this and are currently on a never ending hunt for fish on quests. Based on real location facts and fish information, this is a game that features some of the best graphics and effects ever to be released on a mobile game. With four top fishing locations in the world, and with a wide range of fish starting from marbled coby’s to whale sharks, this game gives you an endless angling pleasure for days.

The maps of four locations featured in the game are shown below. Access to each location via the airport is unlocked after obtaining the required XP for each country. Once you move out to a new location, all the XP, equipment you obtained at the previous location will be lost, giving you a fresh new start.

During loading screens, the game displays location facts, fish facts and jokes.

The game starts in Crocodile bay, Costarica where the player has to do given quests to obtain equipment and points known as XP. Quests become harder and harder, while equipment and hints are unlocked to make it easier upon achievements. Unlockable items include a variety of Rods and Lures, Depth meters, GPS devices and the final unlockable device of the game, the fish finder.

Based on points, players get their levels upgraded in a similar manner to the popular PC MMORPG “World of Warcraft”. Players can update their ranks and levels to N-Gage arena to see where each player’s stand in the world rank. Unfortunately, according to the N-Gage Arena forums the top 5 XP scores (Which are the same - 2147483647 XP) updated at the moment are suspected to be cheated as the points or XP cannot be reached via game play.

As in real life fishing, by obtaining the GPS device, players can even share great fishing locations by exchanging the GPS coordinates for specific fishing spots and it also helps to find specific fish which are required for some quests. While fishing, you may often reel in items such as bicycle frames, corals, sea weed and even rubber ducks which are required during some quests as the objective to complete the quest.

Nokia + Video Games = ?

Nokia N-Gage is the gaming system or rather known as the gaming platform available for the Series 60 devices of Nokia. Originally, N-Gage was released in year 2003, as a dedicated mobile device which was similar to Gameboy Advance. The device in design looked similar to a Gameboy Advance, yet it was a series 60 based Mobile phone. The keypad was designed as handheld mobile games’s keys which made gaming a lot easier.

I too, owned a Nokia N-Gage classic game deck in year 2007 for a few months, and it was a great mobile telephone, except for the fact that you had to hold it like a Mexican Taco in your ear whenever you wanted to make or receive a call as the speaker was located on the side of the device. Apart from that, and a memory issue (known as the White Screen of Death), it was a great mobile telephone. The device had the ability to record audio clips from FM Radio, which I didn’t see in any other device.
The device also supported stereo headphones, and had a slot for SD memory cards. In some European regions, Games were sold as SD cards and, also you could download the setup files and install on device memory or SD card Memory. For Nokia, N-Gage became a total failure according to reviews, as the games were cracked (Unlocked full versions) and became widely available on the cyber space for free.

Replacing the classic Game deck, Nokia released a follow up device, The Nokia N-Gage QD. (QD –quaque die, which meant everyday day in Latin). The N-Gage QD was released in 2004, and certain features such as MP3 Playback, FM Radio and USB were not present on the device. The N-Gage QD was smaller in size compared to the Classic N-Gage device.

Second Generation of N-Gage

The New release of N-Gage (the Second Generation), known as the N-Gage NextGen is a gaming platform was an application software rather than a device. The N-Gage NextGen was announced in E3 2005, and it was launched on 2008. During the launch the N-Gage NextGen platform was released to a several N-Series devices as a beta test. Later on the final release was made available on their N-Gage home page.

Games designed for the Classic N-Gage platform were not compatible with the N-Gage NextGen. With Hooked On : Creatures of the deep as their leading game title, several other games received good reception. The N-Gage application which needs to be pre installed to the device, was similar to X-Box 360’s Live service. It has the ability to manage your own profile, keep you connected with friends and even grant access to latest games and updates via the showroom.

At present Nokia is working together with Gameloft, Capcom, EA and Vivendi , a few leading game developers, and in future we can expect some great games from Nokia N-Gage.

Edward Suranga Fernando started his carrier in gymnastics at the age of eight at Maris Stella College, Negombo, under the guidance of Mr.Mervyn Mendis, of the college tutorial staff and a senior judge of the Gymnastics Association of Sri Lanka.

He won many medals and certificates at All Ceylon Gymnastic meets, and in 1996, he was appointed a judge of the events of men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics.

Disadvantages of N73

The Disadvantages i experienced during the time i used My Nokia N73.

No Wifi, or GPS. (Too much to ask?)

Phone Does not support Memory Cards over 2GB.

Video camera takes time to start capturing,(Especially if it’s the first time ur making a video for the month, as it takes time to create the folder).

Photo Camera Freezes once in a while when its focusing an object.

LED flash is not enough to capture photos during Night time.

Send key (Green Key) doesn’t function once in a while, it’s a bug in the firmware, That was never fixed.

Shiny metal parts of the keypad (Function keys, Send / End Keys) are starting to turn brown after a few months.

Browser does not function in Landscape Mode.Its really hard to browse through most web Pages in Portrait Mode.

No Automatic Keypad lock. If you need to lock the keypad automatically after a few seconds, you need to enable the Phone lock, which asks for a code every time you unlock.

Calculator lacks advanced functions. (6300 has all of them!)

Alarms are not repeated. (Most of the classics can!)

N-Gage officially not supported by Nokia for the N73. (They show a N73 on the N-Gage Site)

Internal Voice Recorder cannot record Clips longer than 1 Minute, Which makes it completely useless.

Calls cannot be recoded without a BEEP, Even with most 3rd Party Softwares.

Internal IM client does not support the best messaging services such as Yahoo, Windows Live or Gmail.

No Spy photography. Shutter sound and flash blows everything. (But 3120 Classic can!)

Application Manager takes ages to start even though you have a few Applications.

No direct shortcut to “Create a New Note” and "Make a New Voice Record Clip"

Experiences with My Nokia N73

My N73 is a Finland made, Nokia N73 Music edition. After 11 months, I made the Lamborghini Mod, which I posted on this blog earlier.

I bought the device from a retailer in Negombo (Madhawa Phone Shop) for SLR 49,000.00 in July, 2007. The Current Price range is SLR 20,000 - 30,000.

This is my 23rd Phone, since I started using mobile phones in 2005; N73 is one of the best among all of them.

This is the only phone I have kept for more than a year, as of today I have been using this for 1 year and 8 months (20 months)

After I bought my N73, More than 20 N73 devices were bought by my friends based on my opinion and reviews about the N73.

The original battery used to hold for more than 3 days. (Li-Po Batteries standard life span is 3 years, mine is almost dead.)

The stuff that lacks in this phone for me is Memory, Wi-Fi and GPS. If they were included, I wouldn’t feel the need of changing this phone again.

Apart from the bugs and errors that appear after my experiments with the phone, this phone has never failed me. It is the most stable device among my list of used phones.

Keypad is perfect for text messaging. Prints on buttons didn’t get erased after a few months like all the other phones. Average number of Text Messages i send in a single month is more than 3000.

I have captured more than 5000 photographs from my N73, most of them appear on my Facebook and Blog (A Day At Deep Sea, Sailor for a Day, A Rainy Day, All the Articles in Wheels in Negombo Category)

Ever since I got the N73, I never felt the need of a digital camera, The only failure in the N73 camera is, it is not capable of capturing pictures under low light conditions, such as evenings and night.

Ever since I switched to the HS-20 headset, (which is similar to the ear plug type that come with Sony Ericsson Walkman Series), Music has been a delightful experience.

N73 comes with QuickOffice viewer pre installed; I have some of my data stored in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint formats (2003, 2007), which is viewable in the mobile.

After I installed the full version of Quick Office, I can edit them as well. The QuickOffice Version 6 supports Microsoft Office 2007 File formats as well. You can even Store Password Protected Documents, which was not possible in earlier versions.

Adobe Reader LE can open up PDF files, a good feature if you use PDF documents a lot.

The video playback quality is amazing, I used to convert and copy Prison Break episodes to the Phone, so I could watch them on my way. Software i used to convert Videos was Helix Mobile Producer.

No need to backup messages like limited memory phones, N73 can hold more than 3000 text messages in the inbox.

The video capturing format (MP4) from N73 can be directly uploaded to Youtube without any conversions. All the videos uploaded on my YouTube Channel were captured from the N73.

I have shared most of my experiences, trips with my friends live! Using 3G Video calls. 3G Camera lacks quality, But during daytime or under Perfect light, its enough to show off almost anything.

STK (Super/Multi Sims) function perfectly with the N73.Most phones like Sony Ericsson's reboot upon switching the Number.

The Phone lock has no backdoors or loops discovered yet to override the lock easily,(Without a PC) it’s a perfect lock.

N-Gage is a perfect gaming experience,unfortunately Nokia officially does not support the device yet. But there are unofficial ways to install N-Gage Platform on the Nokia N73.

Pre installed “Converter” application is a life saver, No need of pens and papers anymore to do long conversions.

InfraRed has been an amazing feature, ever since the installation of Psiloc IRremote. Switching channels on TV's at public places like Hospitals, and airports is another way of having fun !

Data Cable still fits perfectly to the phone. Most others (N70, 7610) got loose and shaky after some time.

The “Clock’ application can keep the time of more countries and cities apart from your own Home city time. A Helpful feature if you cousins around the world to keep in touch.

How to change the Product Code

Every Nokia Mobile device contains a product code, which contains the data such as the phone model, software version and the region it was released. Depending on the region, you will have several languages on your phone which can be changed from the menu. The product code cannot be viewed by invoking any menus or typing codes, so to view this you need to take the back cover off and remove the battery. The code will be printed on the white label underneath the battery, along with the IMEI and other relevant information of the mobile device. The Product Code is usually a 7 digit code which begins with a 0 (Zero).

Benefits of Changing the Product Code

Obtain a New / different version of your Firmware
DeBrand your firmware (Removes Network dependent icons, menus and Links)
Obtain firmware with different Languages
Change the software edition (Music to Standard , Or Standard to Music)

How to Change the Product Code
Read instructions carefully, and do this at your own risk!

First you need to download the latest version of NSS for your PC. Visit the Downloads Page, download the latest version and install it on your computer without changing or ticking any default installation options.

After the installation, it will prompt you to view the USB driver installation. Click "NO" to this, and a shortcut to NSS will be created on your start menu.

Use google serach and get a list of Product codes for your device. Read user reviews (If available), and select the code you want from the list. Copy it down or write it down somewhere exactly as it is. The code usually contains 7 digits, and begins with a 0 (Zero)

To verify your obtained product code, type it on the Nokia Device software update check Page. It will show you your Model and latest available firmware.

Connect your Nokia phone in PC Suite mode to the computer using a data cable.

Go to your start menu, and open NSS. A spalsh screen wlll appear for a few seconds and a new blank window will open as shown below.

On the top right, click the Magnifying glass icon (Scan for a new device)

It will take a few seconds, and the blank window will change to the window shown below.

From the available options in the top, Select and click Phone Info. Move to the right side where it says "Production Data Edit". You will see four Blank options "Product Code, HW Version, Manufacture Month, Order Number and Product Serial Number. Right below the above options, There will be two buttons Read and Write.

Hit the Read button, and the values will be read from the phone.

After a few seconds, the values will be read and will be displayed in blue coloured text and Numbers. Certain fields will remain blank, but the Product code field will show your existing default Product Code.

Now delete the existing product code, and type in the new product code you wrote down earlier. In my case I removed 0539239 and typed the new code 0539343. Tick the enable button right next to the value field.

And once you're done with all the above, Hit the Write button. It wont take more than two or three seconds. Once it is done, A confirmation message will be displayed on the bottom left corner.

Exit NSS, and Restart the Phone if necessary. Update via Nokia Software Updater to obtain the new Firmware.

You can use the Product code to view the latest available firmware for your mobile phone by entering it at the Nokia Device Software Update Page. It will show the latest available firmware for your mobile.

What Else?

NSS (Also known as Nemesis Service Suite) gives you the option to change your default product code to another compatible product code. This needs to be done carefully as patching a wrong product code can damage your mobile device. (Actually, patching does not do any damage, after the patching process, the updating process will).

By changing the Product code to a different product code (which contains another software version, and another region info), you will be able to obtain a different firmware from a different region to your mobile phone by updating the firmware (Using NSU, Nokia Software Updater) after the patching process.

As an example, you can change your Nokia N73 Standard edition to a Nokia N73 Music Edition by patching a Product that belongs to a Nokia N73 Music Edition. Vice versa, You can change your Music Edition to a Standard edition, internet Edition or even to another available edition from a region of your choice.

This is possible because the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) uses your product code to identify the device info and required firmware edition. When you patch it to a different editions code, the NSU will read it and will obtain the corresponding firmware for the new product code.

For Lists of Product codes for any type of a Nokia, Use google search. You can find any product code for any nokia device in all editions and all regions. Make sure you obtain the product code from a trustworthy source and read user reviews to confirm the code. In case you mess up the phone, at the product code patching process, you will be left helpless as Nokia warranty does not cover such damage.

A Fully Loaded Replacement for the S60 Task Manager

S60 is an operating system capable of running multiple applications at the same time, which is also known as multi tasking. As an example, while you're listening to some music on your music player, you can browse your gallery, send text messages or you can even transfer a file using Bluetooth or Infrared.

In Microsoft windows, the popular key combination [Alt+Tab] lets you quickly browse through the active task list, and gives you the ability to switch among active tasks.

By default, the S60 operating system has a Task Manager which simply allows you to switch between active applications and tasks. This task manager can be invoked by pressing and holding the menu key for a few seconds.

The task list will appear on the top left corner of your display as shown below.

Once it is visible, you can switch between tasks or you can quickly terminate an active application by pressing the "C" (Backspace / Clear Key).

The Jbak TaskMan developed by Juriy Bakunin is a perfect replacement for the S60 default task manager, which includes several features and tools which are not available in the default S60 task manager.

It does not require a huge amount of memory to run, compared to the other available Task Managers. A dev cert is not required to sign this application prior to installation, as it is symbian signed, which gives you the freedom to install this on any S60 based mobile phone.

After installation, this will replace the default taskmanager and this can be invoked by pressing and holding the Menu key for several seconds. Apart from switching among tasks, you can also use this as a launcher to open other installed applications or stored content.

The shorcuts can be launched by manually selecting it or, by pressing the corresponding number to it from the keypad.

Jbak Taskman can be also used to view or terminate running processes, threads and chunks on your mobile. It can also set program rules to installed application such as Auto Start, which is similar to the startup folder in Microsoft windows.

After certain installations, some applications require you to restart the mobile which usually has to be done by switching off the phone and switching on again using the power key. But with Jbak Taskman you can do this quickly by selecting the "Reboot" option on its options window.

In my experiences with mobile devices, I have come across a countless number of mobiles, and I have personally used 26 mobile phones since 2006. Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and Motorola are the best brands that I have personally used, and a few of them were a part of the above mentioned lot of 26. Overall, the best among the lot was the Nokia N73, which I have been using for almost 2 years now. But, still there were some unforgettable features which I liked. This review is about them.

Nokia

(Best ones I owned - 3310, 7610, N-Gage, 3650, 6822, 6600, N73)

Nokia was always the best for me when it comes to being more user friendly and stable. The features I would like to emphasize are the Microsoft Office compatibility (N series, Quickoffice), Hardy design (Doesn’t do a lot of damage if you accidently drop the phone), and its good performance as a Mass Storage Device.

The standby screen, (desktop) which shows your daily tasks and notes in the background since the launch of symbian S60 Release 3 (N-Series Devices) is a handy feature.No need to go through calendars and notes to check your days pending work.

N-Gage Classic was a great gaming device, which used to waste a lot of time, and this had the ability to record from FM radio. I didnt see that anywhere else !

7610 had a unique design which made it one of the sexiest phones I have used.

3310 was the most simple and user friendly phone I have used, and I still have the phone with me as a backup. I used to love the battery life, as I only used to charge this, once every 5 or 6 days.

6822 was the first phone I ever had with a QWERTY keyboard, It was a great device made for Text Messaging and Emails.

Samsung

(Best ones I owned – R220, D500, D900, Z370)

When it comes to security, Samsung was always the best. It had some awesome security features, including the Phone/SIM protection which sends a text message to a phone you mention, if the SIM card is changed. Display quality was absolutely perfect and bright, and it is one of the first phones I saw with such a crystal clear quality.

D500 had an awesome external speaker, which made it the loudest mobile at that time.

Z370 was an unforgettable device which made me completely fall in love with it. It was slimmest 3G phone at that time, and it always used to stand out in a crowd among hundreds of other phones. The design was simply amazing, and it fits in your palm and pocket perfectly. The “Phone number dialing screen” was customizable and it was great to see that, after using so many phones with the same old dialing screen which shows just black colored bold numbers (This is the one and only phone which had such a feature).

The only drawback with Samsungs I used was the Low sound, and inability to change the Text Message Tone. The battery didn’t last long in some devices either.

Sony Ericsson

(Best ones I owned – T100, K750, K800)

Design wise they were the best, and I liked the variation of colors on phone’s casing. Music playback quality was superb when a headset is used, and the Cybershot Camera’s (K800) were the only camera’s which had the ability to capture photos in nights and low light conditions.

Battery was a major failure, as none of the devices lasted longer than a day after a charge. At certain places (Mostly low coverage areas), Sony Ericsson’s failed to receive signal, as most other brands had a few bars at the same place.

I used to like the simple menu layout as well, but compared to nokia, the menus were slow in response.

Motorola

(Best ones I owned – A835, V3, V3x, E1000, RAZR2-V8)

A835 was my first phone, and the largest phone I have used. Nowadays it Is considered as a premium brick, yet it was one of the good ones. A835 had a large speaker behind it, and it was the only phone with a Bass boosted music playback. When a song with some Bass (Never leave you – Lumidee) is played, you can actually feel the thump of the Bass from its speaker.

RAZR series was a unique experience, I used to love the clamshell (flip) design and it was the slimmest range of phones I have used before the Z370. It always stands out in a crowd when you open the flip and answer a call. I used to have the “CTU 24” tone as my ringtone.

I used to mod the V3X and the camera of the phone was superb. The color details were sometimes far better and perfect than most phones, (even better than N73, K800 at certain times of the day) and even better than some digital camera’s. At the printing studio, when I went to get the photos developed, the guy over there never believed that the photos were taken from a Motorola V3x.

RAZR V8, the linux mobile was another unforgettable experience. Together with rasputin’s linuxmod, this phone was one of the best among my list. The clamshell design was even better than the previous RAZR series. The smooth rounded edges, shiny surface, and the metallic color used to draw the eyes of anyone around you. The crystal clear voice enhancer feature was amazing; you can actually hear the person speaking on the other side, even though you’re in the middle of a crowded bus station or a noisy playground.

BMW Mini Cooper

The BMW Mini Cooper, which belongs to amith was taken for a short spin after an intake cleanup. The ride was made in temple road, which is the longest stretch in negombo (Besides the Colombo - Negombo Main Road).

Unfortunately, it was a busy time of the day, so we didn't get to go as we expected.

This Honda CBR - Hurricane belongs to a friend of mine. After several months of fun, the CBR met with an accident due to a careless mistake made by the rider. Though the pictures look kinda serious and fatal, Nobody was severely hurt or injured during the accident. The rider survived with a few bruises and minor wounds. The incident took place in Periyamulla Junction, Negombo in 2008.

The Water Rocket

Rockets that fly using water, instead of those burning stuff !

A water rocket is a type of a model rocket usually made using a soft drink bottle, which uses water as its reaction mass. The soft drink bottle acts as the engine of the rocket, or more in more simple terms "The pressure vessel". To make the launch, compressed air is used to force the water out of the bottle acting as a pressurized gas.

How it Works

The bottle is mostly filled with water and sealed. The bottle is then pressurized with a gas, usually air compressed from a bicycle pump, air compressor, or cylinder up to 125 psi, but sometimes CO2 or nitrogen from a cylinder.

Water and gas are used in combination, with the gas providing a means to store potential energy, as it is easily compressed, and the water increasing the mass fraction and providing greater momentum when ejected from the rocket's nozzle. Sometimes additives are combined with the water to enhance performance in different ways. For example: salt can be added to increase the density of the reacton mass resulting in a higher specific impulse. Soap is also sometimes used to create a dense foam in the rocket which lowers the density of the expelled reaction mass but increases the duration of thrust. It is speculated that foam acts as a compressible liquid and enhances the thrust when used with De Laval nozzles.

The seal on the nozzle of the rocket is then released and rapid expulsion of water occurs at high speeds until the propellant has been used up and the air pressure inside the rocket drops to atmospheric pressure. There is a net force created on the rocket in accordance with Newton's third law. The expulsion of the water thus can cause the rocket to leap a considerable distance into the air.

In addition to aerodynamic considerations, altitude and flight duration are dependent upon the volume of water, the initial pressure, the rocket nozzle's size, and the unloaded weight of the rocket. The relationship between these factors is complex and several simulators have been written by enthusiasts to explore these and other factors.

Often the pressure vessel is built from one or more used plastic soft drink bottles, but polycarbonate fluorescent tube covers, plastic pipes, and other light-weight pressure-resistant cylindrical vessels have also been used.
Typically launch pressures vary from 75 to 150 psi (500 to 1000 kPa). The higher the pressure, the larger the stored energy.

N73 Headset - From HS-28 to HS-20

The Nokia N73 is a phone perfected for the music lovers. Being a frequent traveler, I always use my Nokia N73 along with its headset to listen to music on my way. The 2GB memory can hold up to more than 500 songs, and the Music player which has the “shuffle, Equalizer” options makes it the perfect solution for Music on the Move.

The Sales Package of my Nokia N73 came along with the HS-28 headset (Handsfree) and AD-40 (Remote) Controller unit. The music quality was perfect, and it was better than most average mobile phones, except for Sony Ericsson walkman series mobile devices and some Samsung mobiles.

After some experiments (And it was obvious), I realized that the secret behind Sony Ericsson Headset was its design that fits right into the year, blocking out all the other noise. It had an awesome Bass Boost with a sharp treble. For some time I was wondering why Nokia never tried such a solution with their average headsets to deliver a superb music experience.

Surprisingly, Nokia had such a headset, which I was never aware of. In fact it came along with some Nokia Express music devices. The Headset was Nokia (model) HS-20 Headset. It had a similar ear plug design like Sony Ericsson headsets.

I ordered one and bought it through a retailer in Negombo. As soon as I got home, I tried it with the existing Remote Control Unit (AD-40).

The Music quality was absolutely perfect. The best part about it is that it fits right inside the ear which prevents it from falling off if you’re riding or jogging, and also nobody notices you’re having a headset. The Bass Boost was better than the HS-28, But the loudness was a bit low than the HS-28. Still the quality was crystal clear since this one fits right in and blocks the outside noise.

The only disadvantage about Nokia HS-20 is, when you’re having it, you wil not hear anything else other than the music. For an example, something like a large truck tooting the Horn right behind you, before it runs over you. :-)

A song i picked over the weekend after watching the movie, "Gone in 60 Seconds". Though it was a movie released in 2000's, felt like watching it again. This song is played in the scene where the cops raid younger Kip Raine's warehouse. After all, who can forget those 50 ladies that had to boost in 3 days. I like Bernadine (Jag XJ220), and Eleanor (Shelby Mustang GT - Everybody Likes!!!) of course !

The song featured in the Movie "Lost in Space" as well.

This song also featured in the Soundtrack of PC and PS versions of FIFA 98' Game (The Road to World Cup). This was played in between breaks and during Game Menus. I liked the track since then, but didn't know the name and artist of the song to go looking for it.

The police tortures and interrogates Jamal Malik to figure out how he answered all the questions precisely, where they expect it to be a master minded crime. In order to prove his innocence and to explain how he knew all the correct answers, Jamal Malik reveals incidents of his life in the slums during his childhood and teen ages. These incidents are conveyed throughout the movie as flash backs and reveals how he got to knew all the answers from his life long experiences.

The movie is based on the book “Q & A” by Vikas Swarup published in 2005. The movie is directed by Dannie Boyle and Loveleen Tandan. This movie so far grabbed 64 awards and 28 nominations including 8 awards out of 10 at Oscars, 4 golden globe awards, and seven out of eleven BAFTA Awards.

Slumdog Millionaire was first shown at the Telluride Film Festival on 30 August 2008, where it was positively received by audiences, generating "strong buzz". The film also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival on 7 September 2008, where it was "the first widely acknowledged popular success" of the festival, winning the People's Choice Award. Slumdog Millionaire debuted with a limited North American release on 12 November 2008, followed by a nationwide release in the United States on 23 January 2009.

The Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman who planned the score over two months and completed it in two weeks. Rahman won the 2009 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and won two out of the three nominations for the Academy Awards, including one for Best Original Score and one for Best Original Song, the song "O... Saya" got a nomination shared with M.I.A. and the other song "Jai Ho" won the award and was shared with lyricist Gulzar. The soundtrack was released on M.I.A.'s record label N.E.E.T. Radio Sargam termed the soundtrack "magnum opus and the entire world is known to this fact."

In case you dont know about these penguins, you better watch the video below. Its a Cut scene from the Movie Madagascar - 2 (Escape To Africa) where they steal a Jeep from a bunch of tourists.

After the events in Madagascar - 2 (Escape to Africa) The penguins return to Central Park Zoo in New York city. Penguins rule the zoo, while carrying out secret missions inside the zoo , and outside the zoo in the heart of New York city as well. Everything was under control , until the new neighbor King Julian moves in to the zoo and starts making a way to become the supreme leader inside the zoo, defeating the penguins.

The blue eyed penguin who is the leader of the group and mastermind behind their secret missions. He usually gives out Orders to everyone else, and names their missions, Failures are often treated with slaps. He is married to a bobble head named Doll. The four Penguins capture a ship and moves its course to Antarctica in the first Madagascar movie and flies an aeroplane in the second Madagascar movie.

Kowalski

Kowalski is the smartest member in the group, who always makes plans takes notes of skipper. He uses crayola Crayons when he's taking notes. He has a crush on a Dolphin named Dorris. Kowalski plotted the captured ships course to Antarctica after they captured it from the sailors.

Private

The Code cracker and the Youngest member of the group, who is slapped more often by the skipper. He too loves taking notes for skipper, and most of the time he is carried away in his own world of thoughts. He loves playing with tape measures.

Rico

The black eyed penguin who plays the brawn role of the group as he always carries out tasks which require strength and skill. He is also a knife wizard and an explosives expert who always insists on blowing up everything and solving problems. He des not talk most of the time, and even though he talks its a gibberish which only the fellow penguins understand.

I have read your post with great interest. Guess there are lots of girls out there who have similar questions like yours. Please allow me to analyse your situation as a professional investor. My annual income is more than $500k, which meets your requirement, so I hope everyone believes that I'm not wasting time here. From the standpoint of a business person, it is a bad decision to marry you.. The answer is very simple, so let me explain. Put the details aside, what you're trying to do is an exchange of 'beauty' and 'money': Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square. However, there's a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason. The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can't be prettier year after year. Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset. It's not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation. How to Format a Nokia S60 Mobile Phone

When you’re using a Nokia, with time you may notice that your device starts to get buggier and slow in response to your commands. Most of the time, this happens when the mobile gets filled up with data and unnecessary junk and temp files. You can Backup your data and save the space, but what about the hidden pests which we cant deal in the normal user interface?

Apart from the above case there may be several other, some even worst case scenarios like Virus attacks, and malware that fails to remove from the device.

That’s the time when we need to do some serious cleaning, in other words a Device Format. Device Format sweeps out everything in the device and restores the original factory settings it had when the phone was manufactured. All User Installed files such as themes, contacts, Notes will be deleted.

Before attempting any of the format procedures, make sure your Device’s battery is fully charged or connected to a Power adapter. Power failure or Low Batteries might end up bricking the phone.

There are three Main types of Formatting Procedures.

Factory Reset
Hard Reset
Hard Format

Factory Reset

“Factory Reset” will reset all custom settings back to the device’s factory default state. This will not delete any User Data from the Phone memory. Settings such as current time, alarms, Profiles, Themes will be reverted back to the original settings. In Geek words this will restore all the original ini files in the phone.

If your problem isn’t solved with a Factory Reset, You should go for the Hard reset.

To do a Factory Reset, Type *#7780* in the standby screen. Then a message will appear requesting your mobile security code. (Nokia Default security code is 12345). Once you enter the security code, the device will restart. Alternatively, you can do this by selecting Factory Reset located in the Phones settings menu.

Hard Reset

“Hard Reset” is for more tough situations such as viruses and heavy load of junk files that cannot be deleted. Hard Reset will wipe out everything in your phone memory and will restore all the factory default settings. You must backup important files in your phone before this process.

Contacts, Calendar Entries, Files in Phone Memory and Messages will be completely deleted in this process.

To do a Hard Reset, Type *#7370# in the standby screen. A message will appear requesting your Device’s Security Code (Nokia Default security code is 12345). Once you enter the security code, the device will restart. Once the device restarts you can restore your backups.

Hard Format

This option is considered the last option in formatting procedures. This is almost the same as Hard Reset, difference is that this is executed during the Boot process. This is helpful in case your device fails to boot up in case of corrupt font files or viruses. This is will also delete everything in your mobile phone, and will completely restore everything to factory default state.

How to do a Hard Format

Turn off the Mobile Phone

Press and Hold the Following Keys -> Green Key(Send Button) , * , 3

While holding the above 3 buttons, Press the power button to switch on the Phone.

When the Device is powered up, everything in the phone memory will be deleted and restored back to the factory default state. This process usually takes a few minutes.

In S60 V2 devices such as Nokia 7610, 6600 this procedure will be displayed on the screen.
